Now for a little less kitch(en)...

Come one, come all! Time to get planting!

This sunshine is just so wonderful, isn't it? When I walked down the hill into town this afternoon I felt that everything was pretty glorious. Well, if I am completely honest it was the sunshine teamed with a deliciously creamy and fruity strawberry icecream from the new Italian Caffe on Grey Street.

Needless to say, I had already planned my afternoon: a slow stroll about the bustling streets, a quick perusal of the bric-a-brac stalls in the Grainger Market and finally, a shady spot in Leazes Park with the remaining two chapters of Orwell's 'Coming Up For Air' which I have yet to finish.  Sadly, PB (political boy) had other plans.

The perusal of bric-a-brac turned into a perusal of the plant and seed stalls, which later turned to the purchase of multiple seed packets, growing canes and compost.  Walking back up the hill from which I came, ladened with bags, I knew that the book in the sunshine was not on the cards until much later.

Arriving home, I got straight to work setting up my 'potting station' in my living room with the sash windows wide open to try and trick myself into believing I was still outside. Quickly and without mess(!)I produced boxes full of radish seeds, 'cut and come again' lettuces and 20 small pots with french beans buried deep inside.  I can't wait to nurture and talk to the compost until a little face appears. I will post updates regularly!

Anyway, my story has a purpose: Get planting! In the words of my mother this afternoon, 'you're leaving that rather late', so I urge you not to leave it any later! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a little green seedling pop up through dark, silky compost let alone harvest the fruits of your labour!
